My first lead-author paper is published in Ecological Indicators!

I received great news this morning that our paper on how copper exposure affects carotenoid metabolism in copepods has been accepted by Ecological Indicators and is available online under open access for 50 days!

Working with my co-authors, Pou-long Kuan, Yung-che Tseng, and Geoff Hill, we found that copepods exposed to copper produced less of the red carotenoid astaxanthin, and that mitochondrial and antioxidant genes were up-regulated. These results are encouraging to develop copepod carotenoid content as a sensitive indicator of marine environmental pollution.
